ACI 2: Buddhist Refuge
Level One of the Perfection of Wisdom (Prajna Paramita)

This Course is based upon The Ornament of Realizations (Abhisamaya Alamkara) of Maitreya and Master Asanga (350 AD), with a monastic commentary by Master Kedrup Tenpa Dargye (1493-1568). Topics include: - what is the perfection of wisdom - what is refuge - the objects of refuge - the reasons for taking Buddhist refuge - the qualities of a Buddha - the different types of Bodhichitta - what is nirvana - the divisions of nirvana - five different proofs that emptiness is the ultimate nature of reality - and the five paths which lead to full enlightenment. |
This formal study course consists of ten classes, each of which will last for approximately two hours. The schedule of classes will be as follows:
May 26 Saturday Classes 1 & 2: 4:30 - 6:30pm & 7:30 - 9:30pm
May 27 Sunday Classes 3 & 4: 1-3 pm & 4-6pm
May 29 Tuesday Class 5: 7-9pm
May 31 Thursday Class 6: 7-9pm
June 2 Saturday Classes 7 & 8: 1-3 pm & 4-6pm
June 3 Sunday Classes 9 & 10: 1-3 pm & 4-6pm
Each day there will be yoga and guided meditation in the morning, and commuters are welcome! This is part of an ongoing series at DM to complete the ACI series. Classes will include group study/homework sessions. Come and get your ACI done!
